Brandon Rojas, Volunteer Coordinator for #G2S2022

We are excited to be welcoming Brandon to ur G2S crew for this year’s event as the Volunteer Coordinator! Brandon is a long time attendee of Granite Game Summit, beer lover and Carly Rae Jepsen super fan. You can check out his instagram here. Brandon helped was a great help to us last year for our Virtual Game Summit with his Discord knowledge and kindness. We are grateful to have his help again this year in a different role.

What are some of your favorite Game Summit memories?

God too many to count but here are some:

First was the game of Cleopatra and the Society of Architects I played with Patrick Hillier and Eric Buscemi where I GROSSLY misinterpreted a rule and when we got to the end of the game it was pointed out (when I thought I was doing great) and I ended up losing horribly. We all had a good laugh.

Second was once again, with Patrick and Eric, where they had me eat the Twinkies cereal live and give a reaction to the Twinkies cereal. The cereal was not good, but the moment was.

And I’d be remiss to not mention all the beer trades we have done in the past where I have gotten to meet, talk and trade beer with some great people.

Do you have a favorite board game? If so, what is it?

Sorta? If I had to pick one, it might be Twilight Imperium 3e. There are a lot of good memories tied to that game, but I also like the complexity and scale of it. I think I actually played it before I played some of the “classics” funny enough

What would your ideal game day vibe be?

As stated above, music wise would probably be a lot of Carly Rae Jepsen, but probably a mix of all different stuff, probably to fit the mood/setting/vibe of the games we are playing! Food wise, I will NEVER turn down tortilla chips with salsa or guac. Also PIZZA. As for games, I tend to try and get in a bunch of smaller, quicker games rather than something that might take 4-5 hours to play, but hey, if it’s a game I like, I have zero problem hunkering down for the long run. Definitely like to end the night with some group/party games where I don’t have to think as much lol.

What are you most looking forward to for this year’s Granite Game Summit?

Honestly, just seeing people in person again. I have made SO MANY friends through Granite that I only get to see once a year and it’s been too long since I have gotten to just be with them in person.
