Sunday Designer Alley

Here is a more in depth look at the designers and games being shown on Sunday in Designer Alley!

Sunday March 8th:

10 AM:

Bird Spot is a roll and write game that plays in about 20 minutes. In BirdSpot, you are a bird photographer at a nature preserve trying to take the best pictures of the best birds. Unfortunately, you can't just go marching across protected territory, so pick a spot and break out the Camera: either let the birds fly to you or use your tools to maximize your potential.

Decide which birds to record to either raise your point total or to unlock more tools before someone completes enough objectives to end the game.

Biggest score wins!

Jackpot Payout is a fun, quick combination of slot machines and deck building. In Jackpot Payout, each player receives the same starting hands of cards and a play mat. A display area of cards that can be obtained is placed within reach of all players. On a player's turn, the player will draw the top 3 cards from their hand of shuffled cards and place them on the 3 areas of their player mat. The mat represents 3 reels of a slot machine.

If a player gets 3 matching cards, they hit the jackpot! Those cards are placed in the player's score pile. Cards will have coins on them in addition to symbols and special text. As the cards with coins enter the score piles, these cards can no longer be played, but they count towards the player's total score.

Once a player receives 12 coins, the game end is triggered and a final round takes places where players have an opportunity to chain jackpots together!

12PM:

Ruthless Old Prospectors is a map building/take that game for all ages. You become a miner 49er who has struck it rich, but during the night, you try to sneak out of the mine on your own and register the deed for yourself! In cartoon style, you sabotage steer your opponents away from their chosen exit, all the while building your own tunnel to freedom. Be ruthless! It's the only way to come out on top! Winner of the Boston FIG Fest Tabletop Showcase - Best Game in Progress award for 2019.

  • Table B: Chris Rio showing Cheer Up!

Cheer Up! Is a party game for 4-8 players where you use adjective, noun, and verb cards to answer questions in the best way possible. Rule cards change up the game by adding absurd instructions for players to follow when reading out their card combinations.
