Corey Jones

We are excited to be welcoming Corey Jones to this year’s Designer Alley at #G2S2024!

A little bit about Corey, written in his own words.

My name is Corey Jones. I am a a member of a local design group called Game Makers Guild and even though I have always designed games in my life, the past year or so I have been with GMG have really helped to push me get into my own element and dive deeper into this hobby.

THREE RANDOM FACTS ABOUT COREY:

  • His gateway game into the hobby was Root

  • He makes random sounds involuntarily, sometimes he can be loud. He is ok, please don't be alarmed

  • Corey can solve a Rubiks Cube, slowly. He knows, it is an impressive skill lol

COREY WILL BE SHOWING OFF His GAME BLOOM-I-NATION IN DESIGNER ALLEY AT #G2S2024

Bloom-i-nation is an area control game about bees competing to pollinate flower patches. Players draft their turn order between rounds and spend notes to perform actions and allow their bees to dance. Players will constantly be moving around the board in order to gain points when the flowers first bloom in the spring, so players will not be able to completely hunker down in one spot and will have to decide when to move forces. BEEtles are also buzzing around to cause their own mischief and allow players another way to stop others from gaining points, at the cost of potentially stopping themselves in the future.

The game takes place over 6 rounds, where each round players will have 2 actions. Turn order is not linear however, depending on where you draft for turn order, you may be able to take 2 turns in a row. The placement of your draft also allows you the possibility to use a special exclusive action in addition to the normal actions you can perform. Players who fall behind in points are able to draft first, securing the spots they need to dance their way on the field.
